EV technology, including plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs), is creating
employment opportunities in vehicle manufacturing, battery production, charging infrastructure development, and
maintenance services. Additionally, training programs for e-rickshaw operation and maintenance are empowering
entrepreneurs, fostering self-employment, and promoting greener urban mobility. The shift towards electric and
alternative-fuel vehicles is not only reducing environmental impact but also creating a wide range of sustainable job
            opportunities in the transportation sector.

            5.3.4. Water Conservation

Water conservation plays a vital role in promoting sustainable practices and creating green jobs. One of the most effective
techniques is rooftop rainwater harvesting, which involves collecting rainwater in tanks for future use. This method
is suitable for all types of homes and buildings and helps replenish groundwater levels. The adoption of alternative
water-pumping methods, such as cycle-powered pumps, further contributes to sustainability by reducing electricity
consumption while offering a means for physical exercise. Careers in water quality testing, conservation, and management
are growing as the demand for efficient water usage increases, ensuring long-term environmental benefits.
Drip irrigation using bamboo channels is another eco-friendly approach to water conservation, particularly in agriculture.
This method efficiently delivers water directly to plant roots, reducing wastage and improving crop yields. Bamboo-
based irrigation systems are cost-effective and biodegradable, as the bamboo decomposes after a few years and can be
used as natural manure, enriching the soil. The use of such sustainable techniques creates employment opportunities
in irrigation system installation, maintenance, and environmental research. By adopting water-saving technologies
and innovative conservation methods, green jobs in water management continue to expand, contributing to a more
            resource-efficient future.

            5.3.5. Solar and Wind Energy

The transition to clean energy sources like solar and wind power has created numerous green job opportunities. Solar
Photovoltaic (PV) Installers play a crucial role in setting up and maintaining solar panels on residential, commercial,
and industrial properties. Solar lighting technicians are responsible for installing, testing, and repairing solar-powered
lighting systems, including home lighting setups and streetlights. These careers contribute to reducing dependence on
fossil fuels, lowering carbon emissions, and promoting sustainable energy solutions. In addition, roofers, solar panel
installation technicians, and field technicians ensure the proper setup and maintenance of solar energy systems, making
solar power a major contributor to green employment.

Similarly, the wind energy sector is rapidly growing and generating sustainable jobs. Wind turbine technicians are
responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing wind turbines, ensuring they operate efficiently to generate
electricity. Engineers and field technicians work on designing and improving wind farms to maximize energy output.
The development of wind power infrastructure also creates jobs in manufacturing, transportation, and site management.
As the global demand for renewable energy rises, careers in wind energy continue to expand, offering long-term,
eco-friendly employment opportunities while contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.

                                                                                              Green Skills-IV 107
